It is genuine leather and is coated to give it a firm feel and appearance. I put a small charm on it and they go to get her perfectly. This necklace is designed for a man. The clasp is spring loaded and made of stainless steel.I have purchased other necklaces and found that the clasps on those ones would come loose and break. This necklace and clasp appear to be made of a higher quality and a better design.I recommend this necklace and plan to buy another for a another charm I have bought.

Very well packaged. Nice note sent by seller ahead of time on how to care for the necklace. Its a good quality, sturdy necklace. I’ve worn it every day since getting it about 2 weeks ago. I did swim with it on and no problems. Clasp is easy to use and seems solid.
